Hey there!

You've probably tasted tea. That green/black, warm, and refreshing stuff the Brits love. I love them too! Especially the chamomile and the green tea. Some of you may hate teas, I don't know about you, but you can't deny that after taking it, (most likely) you'll feel more calm and relaxed. Well, it may actually be the opposite.

But did you know that that relaxing effect isn't the only thing teas do to us? It is actually way, waaaay more awesome than that. Hint, teas just have the ability to help prevent a very wide range of health problems like artery blockage, high cholesterol levels, stroke, neurological disorders, and even cancer. Yes that notorious serial killer we can't seem to find a cure to, teas can PREVENT it. And now, I am going to review this one specific product of green tea: the GOLD LEAF Green Tea.

Green Tea: it's simply awesome

According to WebMD.com, green teas have a high concentration of EGCG. Epigallocatechin Gallate is an antioxidant that can hinder and prevent the growth of bladder, breast, lung, stomach, pancreatic, and colorectal cancers; prevent clogging of the arteries, burn fat, counteract oxidative stress on the brain, reduce risk of neurological disorders like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, reduce risk of stroke, and improve cholesterol levels (from WebMD.com). Teas also have natural caffeine, so it will also somehow make you more awake and alert. Plus, you get an added bonus of it being a great, refreshing beverage! This is hopefully what I will get from the product I am reviewing.

More Personal Stuff You Should Know

(Pros & Cons)

Pros:

  • Chamomile tea: Its antioxidants may help prevent complications from diabetes, like loss of vision and nerve and kidney damage, and stunt the growth of cancer cells.
  • Echinacea: Often touted as a way to fight the common cold, the research on echinacea has been inconclusive.
  • Hibiscus: A small study found that drinking three cups of hibiscus tea daily lowered blood pressure in people with modestly elevated levels.
  • Rooibos (red tea): A South African herb that is fermented. Although it has flavonoids with cancer-fighting properties, medical studies have been limited.

Cons:

  • Iron issues due too much flavonoid content
  • Caffeine complications which can make you nervous, jittery and nauseated and cause irregular heartbeats and insomnia.
  • Sugar overload in sweetened teas.
  • Tinted teeth due to the tea's color.

Conclusion!

My beloved green tea, in conclusion, was not really far from what I have always thought. It was refreshing, it made me calm(er), and it set my mind on track whenever I drank it. I recommend it for students who are studying, so they can focus better and do better with their studies. It would also be best for anyone who's trying to relax in the middle of a stressful situation. Just don't drink too much in short periods of time because it might discolor your teeth, and too much caffeine and EGCG is bad for you. Much like coffee, take it moderately!
